turn these cool books into film

Following the previous article on Howl's Moving Castle... i thought that it'd be really cool to put down the books that i think i want to watch on the big screen... provided that the directors, producers, casting agents.. etc etc do a great job. Just in case that anyone thinks that i'm blissfully unaware, i'm aware that some of the movie rights of the books that i'm going to list down may have been sold. However, i am, too aware that sometimes, it take ages for someone to make a film out of a book, e.g AI... And the same time.. sometimes.. the fluffiest book gets turned into a movie in the shortest possible time like Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Not forgetting the speed in which The Antwone Fisher Story (2002), based on the book Finding Fish: A Memoir published in 2001, was made is amazing!!

1. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer: rumors have been persisting for years that a movie was in the making. In addition, there were claims that Cameron Diaz was linked to the role of Holly Short. However... err.. given that it's been some years already.. and you know.. people age... might not be such a great idea. Film production has apparently been delayed due to the raising Euro dollar (it was supposedly to be filmed in Ireland).

2. Eragon by Christopher Paolini: It's going to be an epic as well.. but maybe should wait till the books are completed.

3. The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Shroud: It would be so great to see the smart-alex witty Djinni to come alive on screen. Though i do think that it would only be appropriate that he's gonna be a CG character like Golem from LOTR.. though he's going to be so much more interesting. Can't wait for book 3 to come out... When? When? When?

4. The Promise by Danielle Steele: It's one of my all-time favorite love story... and yes. i'm a sucker for love story.. and i think that it would be a touching romantic story. It's already made into a movie!! See here!

5. Special Relationship by Robyn Sisman: ditto

6. The Thief Lord by Cornelius Funke: It's more of a adventure, treasure hunt story then of fantasy... but i think that it would work too.

7. Farm Fatale: A Comedy of Country Manors by Wendy Holden: don't know if it is a tried and tested (tired) story.. but i liked the book.

8. Captain UNDERPANTS!!

9. Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism by Georgia Byng: Very cool girl power magical book .

10. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien: Need i say anything about this book?

11. Life of Pi by Yann Martel: might turn out to be something like Castaway though..

12. The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder: I think that it's a great story and unique explanation of the playing cards and how it relates to the world.

13. Anything Considered by Peter Mayle: Set in Provence (one of my must-visit place), a down and out Englishman is desperate to "consider anything" to stay in France. A adventure, thriller, mystery...

Well... these are just off the top of my head.. i'm sure that there are tons of books that i have read and don't recall at this moment in time. and of cos this list doesn't include the books that i know are already planned, such as Harry Potter.. and stuff..

any other to add on to the list?
